Travels on the Art and Architecture in Barcelona Chapter work from home.

Work  the Way You Want.

If you plan to work while on your Sojrn, you’ll have the opportunity to do so from afar while immersing yourself in the local culture. With a complimentary personal WiFi hotspot, your desk can be anywhere you like, from your own apartment to the cute coffee shop around the corner. Sojrn has also partnered with a cafe to create a Sojrn Space, so you’ll always have somewhere nearby to get work done or meet up with Chaptermates whenever you like. Think of it as your friendly neighborhood hangout.

We’ve found that this setup is ideal for the majority of people who join Sojrn. However, if you have more specific work needs, we also provide a co-working space nearby with 24/7 access, phone booths, meeting room access, and refreshments for an additional cost.

Your Barcelona home.

  • Private Housing - $5,999 | A private apartment/studio that comes furnished, equipped with WiFi, a kitchen and space to work.

  • Shared Housing - $4,899 | A private room in a shared apartment.

  • No Housing - $2,999 | If you have specific accommodation needs, you may participate in the Sojrn program but arrange your own housing. While you will need to book and manage your accommodations on your own, you will be fully involved in all other facets of the Chapter and Sojrn community.

PS: If you book the Private Housing option with someone (shared bed), the second person gets 50% off of their Sojrn.

The Art & Architecture in Barcelona Sojrn has two different tiers of centrally-located accommodations available, as well as an option to join the Chapter but arrange your own accommodation.

Striving for balance.

With Barcelona as your home base, we've designed a four-week stay to help you immerse yourself in the culture of Catalonia as you learn about the region's unique art and architecture. The month is broken up into four focuses:

WEEK 1

The city of Barcelona viewed from above.

Barcelona Blueprint

Settle into your new home abroad, a city renowned for its visionary urban planning, walkability, and vibrant way of life. Keep a watchful eye out for the flying buttresses and spires of Gothic masterpieces or the curved lines and intricate details of Catalan Modernism as you begin to familiarize yourself with your new neighborhood.

Your first week will be filled with activities aimed at community building with your new Chaptermates and introducing you to the city’s most notable marvels. These could include welcome brunches, desayuno club, neighborhood scavenger hunts, or visits to iconic works of architecture like the Sagrada Familia. Throughout the week, there will be several optionals as well, which may range from beach days to walking tours or hikes through the Olympic park.

WEEK 2

Exteriors

In your second week, as you dive deeper into Barcelona’s aesthetic, start to examine the city from the streets. Focus on the exteriors, from elaborate facades that line the buildings in the city’s central Gothic Quarter to the vibrant street art that burst out of the shadows with the fall of the Franco dictatorship and was later inspired and influenced by the Parisian graffiti scene of the 1980s.

This week, you’ll adventure well off the beaten path on a group of engaging activities that could range from architecture and tapas tours to immersive street art experiences down narrow alleyways. Several optional activities focusing on the city’s cuisine and culture will also be offered.

WEEK 3

Interiors

Interior architecture in Barcelona buildings.

Now that you’ve developed an eye for exteriors, you’ll step inside in week three as you start to scrutinize the designs and complexities of the city’s wonders from within. Explore some of the city’s most colorfully intricate buildings and recognize the ways in which Catalan Modernism influences and affects everyday life.

Your activities will mix architecture with culture and pull you from the city’s streets inside famous buildings by Gaudi or other Catalan masters. They may include visits to the Palau de la Musica or other monumental works, tours of interior design studios, or mixology courses. Optional activities will be sprinkled throughout the week and may include bonfires on the beach, happy hours, hikes, or live music.

WEEK 4

Revive

This final week, we’ll celebrate the legacy of Catalan culture and embrace the city’s foresight for the future—one focused on reviving and repurposing the art and architecture of a monumental past. Start to consider the inevitabilities of cultural evolution and the ways in which design can influence, affect, and even dictate how we live our lives.

Activities in your fourth week will focus on celebrating this city and your time here. They may include boat rides, sunset cruises, tours of modernist wineries, or in-depth explorations of Gaudi’s masterpieces. Of course, there will also be numerous optionals focusing on the city’s spectacular cuisine, lively nightlife, and natural wonders.
