Please note that each Chapter has specific information on each Chapter page. Please reference the FAQ section at the bottom of each page for more detailed information on the specific location.

What happens on a typical Chapter?

During your two or four-week stay, Sojrn sets you up with comfortable accommodation, a workspace, a network of Chaptermates, and a menu of things to do to help you explore the destination and expand your knowledge on the Chapter theme.

These experiences vary depending on the Chapter and range from learning from local craftsmen to surfing with locals. There are four activities included (one per week) and several more optional activities we’ve curated from our favorite local partners.

What are the accommodations?

For each Chapter, you will be able to book the accommodation tier that best suits you. Tier options vary by Chapter, but at a minimum, all accommodations include your own room and WiFi.

If you book a shared apartment, you may be paired with someone of another gender. We will ask your accommodation preferences prior to your Chapter; however, depending on the number of guests, we cannot guarantee the gender of your roommate.

Please note: if you have very specific accommodation requirements or are very picky about your living situation, we recommend inquiring about pricing without accommodation. That way, you can still join the program but can pick your own housing.

How's the WiFi?

We know how important good WiFi is. Each destination lists the average internet speed and we aim to have 40Mbps+ at each location.

Can I do Sojrn for longer or shorter than the two or four weeks?

We understand some participants will need to arrive late or leave early but at this time there are no discounts for missed time. If you’d like to extend your stay, let your Local Host know as soon as possible and we’ll see what we can do!

Can someone not on Sojrn visit me?

Yes! Visitors are welcome to stay a maximum of three nights with participants in Private Housing or two nights in Shared Housing. No more than one visitor is permitted throughout the two weeks. Visitors are not permitted to participate in any included activities.

How much free time is there?

In short, as much as you like. Sojrns are intended to be largely self-guided, meaning you dictate how you spend your time.

Once a week, you’ll have the opportunity to participate in several group activities but other than that, how you spend your time is up to you. Of course, we’ll provide an entire menu of ideas to fill your free time but the what and when is up to you.

Note: self-guided doesn't necessarily mean alone. You'll be connected with your Chaptermates through an online platform so you can always invite people to join you.

What are the activities?

The activities for each Sojrn depend on the Chapter theme. They might range from private tours, to cooking classes, white-water rafting, movie nights, scavenger hunts, and beyond.

Specific activity inclusions are listed on each Chapter page.

Also, we recognize some people will be working odd hours because of time zone differences. Depending on the number of Sojrn participants in each Chapter, we will have multiple sessions for each included activity that will be scheduled to accommodate this.

If I’m working on my Sojrn, what should I expect?

Your Sojrn Chapter allows you to connect with a community of like-minded friends as you discover your theme through numerous included and optional events. You will be provided with all of the details regarding your events and activities one month in advance.

We encourage all Chaptermates working on their Chapter to do their best to have some flexibility in their work schedules. While your activities will generally take place during weekday evenings, two of them may be full-day experiences. The more flexibility you have, the more you’ll get out of your Sojrn experience.

What language is the program in?

For now, all programming and communication is in English. As we grow, we will add support for additional languages.
